South Korea Deploys AI Surveillance System to Combat Crypto Market Manipulation
South Korea's Financial Supervisory Service (FSS) has escalated its crackdown on cryptocurrency market manipulation with an AI-powered upgrade to its VISTA monitoring platform. The system now processes trading data across microseconds to months-long patterns, targeting spoofing and wash trading with algorithmic precision.
New high-performance servers deployed in December enable real-time analysis of abnormal trading indicators. The AI detects manipulation tactics regardless of duration—whether fleeting spoofing attempts or prolonged pump-and-dump schemes—automating what previously required manual investigation.
This move coincides with heightened global scrutiny of crypto exchanges like Binance and Upbit, where regulators suspect sophisticated Trading Bots exploit latency gaps. Violators now face potential life imprisonment under South Korea's revised financial laws.
